Turkmenistan maintains some of the most strict entry rules globally. All foreign citizens must obtain an official Letter of Invitation (LOI) approved directly by the State Migration Service before applying for a visa.
We handle the stress: TGS Travel completely manages your entire LOI application process. Once we secure your letter, you can easily receive your physical visa stamp directly upon arriving at Ashgabat Airport or land borders.
Please note that individual, non-escorted tourist travel is not permitted by state law — you must stay with an accredited guide from our company throughout your stay.
Secure Your InvitationRequires strict planning in advance. We handle all direct ministerial submissions for your peace of mind.
An accredited expert driver and professional guide will accompany you across checkpoints smoothly.
Due to highly structured monitoring networks, Turkmenistan is one of the safest countries globally.
The Karakum desert creates extreme temperature shifts. Avoid intense summer highs by choosing pleasant transition windows.
April and May offer beautiful desert conditions. Temperatures are pleasantly warm, spring steppe flowers briefly cover the sands, and city tours are highly comfortable.
July and August feature intense heat inside the desert, with temperatures regularly crossing 45°C. Tours are adjusted for early morning or late evening excursions with climate-controlled 4x4 cabins.
September and October represent another prime window alongside spring. The desert heat completely fades away, leaving perfectly crisp clear days and ideal camping nights at Darvaza.
Winters can get surprisingly cold and windy due to arctic winds hitting the open flat terrain. Desert camping is heavily restricted during this time, but urban monuments remain accessible.
Most international flights touch down at Ashgabat's modern falcon-shaped international terminal (ASB). Our direct guide meets you immediately right at migration control gates.
Crossing the vast Karakum sands to reach Darvaza safely requires premium transport nodes. We deploy heavy-duty, heavily maintained 4x4 SUVs with extra communication gear.
For our popular Multi-Stan itineraries, we coordinate perfectly timed pickups at the Farap border control node, allowing a seamless connection directly from Bukhara.
